The first half was a relatively one-sided affair, with surprisingly RB being the dominant team. The Leipzig team had almost no gaps at the back and were much more active, more offensive and also more dangerous. The only problem was scoring goals. Benjamin Sesko could have shot himself famously. In the 2nd minute he headed into the box, but the weak referee Irfan Peljto, who was only petty in this one situation, did not award the goal. After that, Sesko didn’t catch the ball properly (4th), missed the goalkeeper (10th), only hit the side netting (21st) and was just missed (42nd).
After the break, RB continued to play courageously forward, but was now caught cold: Diaz grabbed the ball, ran largely unhindered to the 16 and shot the ball into the far left corner to make it 1-0 (49th). A dream goal. What followed was a really wild back and forth at times, with many great chances on both sides. On the Leipzig side, Dani Olmo and again Sesko failed several times due to the brilliant Andriy Lunin (51st/62nd/81st).
