Madrid: UEFA has announced the squad for the 2021-22 season in the Champions League without superstars. Kareem Benzema is the player of the season. Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar did not make the team. Most of the players are from the two teams that made it to Paris for the final.

Fourteen players from Real Madrid, who have won their 14th title, and four from Liverpool in the Champions League have been named in the squad. The other three players are from PSG, Manchester City and Chelsea. Kareem Benzema, Real’s goal machine, is the spearhead of the attack.

Benzema has scored 15 goals in 12 games this season. The winner of the final, Vinicius Jr., and PSG’s Killian Mbabane will join Benzema in the forward line. The midfield will be dominated by Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, Real’s Luka Modric and Liverpool’s Fabinho.
