This is (finally) good news for PSG. Juventus sank in Israel, in Haifa (2-0), and the door to the round of 16 is now wide open for Paris. Indeed, this success of Maccabi makes things very simple, mathematically, for PSG: in the event of victory Tuesday evening against Benfica Lisbon, it will be officially qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
In the standings, at present, PSG and Benfica share the head of the group with 7 points each in just three games, while Juve and Haifa are both 3 points, but in four games. With a victory on Tuesday evening, PSG would therefore drop to 10 points and, even with two defeats in their last matches, would be guaranteed to finish among the top two in their group.
