Riyadh: In view of the possibility of heavy rain, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia declared a holiday for schools and universities on Thursday. A notification in this regard was issued by the Jeddah Directorate of Education. Educational institutions in Jeddah, Rabigh and Khulais will be closed on Thursday, an official notification said.

According to the report received from the National Meteorological Center, the holiday is being given keeping in mind the safety of the students due to the possibility of heavy rains, the Directorate of Education said. Jeddah-based King Abdulaziz University and the University of Jeddah have taken similar measures.

King Abdulaziz University informed that the alternative dates for the postponed examinations will be announced later. Civil Defense has also warned people to be cautious. The instructions also say to keep a distance from places where rainwater stagnates and valleys.
