Heavy rains will occur in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul and Tenkasi districts today and tomorrow due to variation in speed of westerly winds. Light rain will occur at some places in Chennai. As of yesterday morning, the highest rainfall in the state was 17 cm at Avalanchi in Nilgiris district.
In the Middle East and adjacent South Arabian Sea areas, strong winds are likely to blow today, so fishermen should not go there, it said.
