The Chennai Meteorological Department said in a statement yesterday that the southern districts and coastal districts are likely to receive light to moderate rains. In this situation, light rain is expected in various parts of Chennai starting this morning. Vadapalani, Kindi, Adyar and suburbs of Tambaram, Vandalur and Ambattur also received showers.
According to the Chennai Meteorological Department, there will be showers in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Ranipettai, Kanchipuram, Vellore, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai district of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry and Karaikal in the next one or two hours.
Various parts of the district including Thiruvarur, Nannilam, Channanallur, Poonthottam, Peralam, Kudavasal and Mudikondan have received heavy rains for more than half an hour.
