The biopic of renowned filmmaker Mrinal Sen has been produced by Kolkata-based talented director Srijit Mukherjee. Chanchal Chowdhury of Bangladesh acted as Mrinal Sen in this movie titled ‘Padatik’. Popular Kolkata actress Manami Ghosh played the role of Mrinal Sen’s wife Geeta Sen.
Padatik movie will be released on August 15. The trailer of the movie was released a few days ago. Actors are also busy with promotions. Manami gave an interview to an Indian media on this occasion. As she told the story of becoming Geeta Sen, the actress also talked about her experience of shooting with Chanchal.
How do you prepare yourself for the character? In response to this question, Manami Ghosh said, ‘Srijitada helped with some information. Eg: Mrinal Sen’s films in which he acted. He had an interview with Mrinal Sen. Seeing that is also somewhat beneficial. The rest I heard from others, understood and then acted.’
Speaking about the experience of shooting with Chanchal Chowdhury, Manami Ghosh said, “He is a very good person. He was always in character. We read the script together between shots on the floor. But there was a little chat on the floor. I remember, when he came to the floor in the morning, he would look at me and say, ‘Good morning, Ginny. How are you?”
The movie will depict Geeta Sen from her childhood to her old age. And it is also known that Manami Ghosh had to take prosthetic makeup for that. This is Srijit Mukherjee’s debut with Chanchal Chowdhury and Manami Ghosh. Again, Manami-Chanchal also acted as a pair for the first time in this movie.
Mrinal Sen’s personal and directorial life got more space in this movie. It is said that the movie will cover much of the Calcutta Trilogy made by Mrinal Sen from 1969 to 1973.
