Jaipur, 2024-08-10 03:00:25 – An outbreak of the deadly Chandipura‍ virus has been confirmed in Rajasthan, with a two-year-old girl in Shahpura district being the latest victim.

The girl, a resident ⁢of Kothiya ⁣area in Shahpura district, fell ill on August 5‍ and was initially admitted to a private hospital in Vijaynagar. Her condition ⁤deteriorated, leading her family to transfer her to a ⁤major hospital in ​Ahmedabad, where she was diagnosed with Chandipura virus. Her condition is ⁢currently ⁢critical.

This is the second confirmed case of ⁤Chandipura virus in Rajasthan.‍ The first case was reported in Dungarpur district, where a 3-year-old child was found infected.

Medical Response

The medical department has declared an alert and is taking several measures to control the outbreak.‌
