President Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday took steps to appoint former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga as the Senior Adviser to the National Collaborative Mechanism for Food Security and Nutrition.

It will be implemented under the leadership of Chancellor’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake.

However, within a few hours of receiving the letter for the position of adviser, former President Mrs. Chandrika has taken steps to reject the post and send a reply letter to President Ranil.

All offers are rejected

In the letter, he has indicated that he refused the office facilities or all the privileges allotted to him.
