jpnn.comJAKARTA – DPD RI member Hasan Basri asked the DPD RI leaders who are still in office to follow the applicable mechanisms and regulations if they want to re-nominate as DPD RI leaders in the upcoming period.

Hasan Basri admitted to being part of the change group in the institution over the leadership of the DPD RI for the past five years. However, he admitted that he would have no problem if the incumbent leader ran again.

“If you want to run, yes, please do. However, it must be in accordance with the mechanisms and regulations,” said Hasan at a press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday (16/8).

Hasan conveyed this when providing an explanation regarding the DPD RI Plenary Session which became heated because a number of members protested the DPD RI leadership when reading out the draft of the new Rules of Procedure.

According to him, the draft of the rules of procedure was designed by a working team (timja) formed by the leadership of the DPD RI. In fact, he said, previously there had been a special committee (pansus) that designed the draft of the rules of procedure.

The senator said that the rules of procedure are not arbitrary because they are binding on all members. The draft rules should be ratified or rejected by the leadership of the DPD RI, not taken over by forming a team.

He considered that the draft regulations were not ready to be approved because the draft did not comply with the regulations. Apart from that, the draft regulations only contain around 3-5 percent changes to the rules, but these changes are very important because they involve the election of leaders.

“We want the DPD RI to do its best for the interests of the nation and state. We want to position the DPD RI according to its functions and authorities,” he said.

Hasan Basri admitted to being part of the change group at the institution under the leadership of the DPD RI for the past five years.
