“It is possible that by Tuesday there will be changes in the proposed caretaker government. There are scandals going on, mainly with the nomination of the Minister of Internal Affairs,” said Prof. Ekaterina Mihailova, a long-time MP and professor of constitutional law.
She reminded that according to the changes in the Constitution, the parliament will work until the swearing in of the new deputies, the official cabinet will be sworn in before the National Assembly, but in practice it will not be possible to be replaced by them.
In her opinion, it can be done so that MPs receive two salaries each, if they are part of the previous and the new parliament.
“There was a rush with the changes in the Constitution in the political part, and this led to the oversight of some texts,” Mihailova commented to bTV.
According to her, the election campaign has already started and is quite muddy. She recommends that the deputies go on vacation before the vote and pay more attention to the voters.
It is already clear that the elections will be 2 in 1 – for the early elections for the national parliament they will be together with the regular elections for the European Parliament – on June 9. President Rumen Radev is expected to officially schedule them by decree on Tuesday, April 9. On the same date, the interim government proposed by Dimitar Glavchev will be appointed.
