The format of the T20 World Cup 2024 has been changed.
In the previous editions, the first round was played first, followed by the Soup 12 round, followed by the semi-finals and finals. But in the 2024 tournament, after the first round, the Soup 8 round will be held, followed by semi-finals and finals.
That is, the participating 20 teams will be divided into 4 groups of 5 teams each. After the first round is over, the top two teams from each group will advance to the Soup 8 round. There they will be divided into 2 groups of 4 teams each.
The top two teams from both groups will qualify for the semi-finals. Those who advance from that will play in the final. While 12 teams (USA, West Indies, Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh) have already qualified directly for the 2024 World Cup, 8 more teams will be finalized through qualifying matches.
