Chappell Roan, 26, made her debut at the MTV VMA this Wednesday, the 11th. However, while on the red carpet, a disagreement between her and a photographer sparked reactions on social media. As the artist was getting ready and posing for photos, the professional told her to be quiet. The singer, however, retaliated against the comment and shouted, “Shut up! Not with me!” Some people present at the scene even booed her behavior.
Later, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the “Best New Artist” winner described her feelings about being at her first awards show. “It’s really impressive and scary,” she confessed. She then explained why she shouted at the photographer. “I think for someone who gets very anxious around people yelling at you, the carpet is horrible, and I shouted back. You can’t yell at me like that. It’s easy for me to stand up for myself. But I’m not going to carry this for the rest of my career. I’ve been famous for about a month. It’s not going to be like this, girl.”
