Charli XCX has released her new album, Music, Fashion, Film, marking a deliberate departure from her sixth album, BBC. Rather than creating a direct follow-up, the singer crafted 11 short, guitar-based songs in a matter of weeks after inspiration struck unexpectedly during a period when she was supposed to be taking a break.

In an interview cited by the BBC, Charli explained her artistic pivot: If I’d made another album that felt more dance-leaning, it would have felt really hard, really sad.
She added in a newsletter to fans, To be boring is to die right there on the spot.
Artistic Collaborations and Star-Studded Album Artwork
The main album cover of Music, Fashion, Film breaks convention by omitting the pop star entirely. Instead, the sleeve features three cultural titans representing the sectors in the title: Velvet Underground musician John Cale, fashion designer Marc Jacobs, and film director Martin Scorsese, according to reporting by CNN. An alternate cover features the singer herself among them as their spiritual heir or superfan.
The photograph was captured in New York by Scottish filmmaker Aidan Zamiri, who has previously directed music videos and the mockumentary BBC for Charli.
