Marvel star Charlie Cox revealed at New York Comic Con 2026 that he has recorded 40 hours of dialogue for an unannounced Sega video game, catching developers off guard when he arrived for his first session in his natural English accent instead of the American persona they expected.
Fresh off his voice acting debut as Gustave in the role-playing game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Charlie Cox is expanding his gaming portfolio with a major new project. Speaking to IGN’s Jeffrey Vega at New York Comic Con 2026, the actor confirmed he has already completed a massive vocal recording session for a mystery title. According to IGN, Cox stated, I did another one! It doesn’t have a name yet,
adding, I did a Sega one. I’ve done one since. It hasn’t come out yet. It was fun to do. It’s hard. It’s a whole different job, man.
Crew Mistakes Charlie Cox for an American
While discussing the project, Cox shared a lighthearted story about how the studio’s team made a significant assumption about his background. Because of his work portraying characters with an American accent in television, the production crew expected him to be American.
I showed up for the first day, and I was like, ‘Hi guys, nice to meet you! How are you?’ And all of them went, ‘…oh, he’s English.’ They’d wanted him to be American. But now I’ve got to do 40 hours of lines I’ve not prepared in an accent.

That accidental mismatch meant the performer had to tackle a heavy workload on the fly. As noted by Insider Gaming, his comments confirmed that the character he is portraying is set to be an American, and the immense hours he logged suggest he will be a main character. Eurogamer also noted that the actor mentioned earlier this year that Clair Obscur had opened a new avenue for his professional work. IGN expressed to the actor during their New York Comic-Con chat that they would love to see him feature in a greater number of video games. Originally hailing from London, Cox delivers such a convincing portrayal of New York crimefighter Matt Murdock that the development team experienced genuine surprise upon meeting him at the recording session.
Comparing Booth Time With Expedition 33
The time investment for this secret Sega title dwarfs Cox’s previous video game experience. When he voiced Gustave in 2025’s acclaimed role-playing hit, the recording process required a much shorter window.

- Expedition 33: Cox spent a mere four-hour session recording lines for Gustave, who served as a primary point-of-view protagonist with a distinct combat overcharge mechanic, according to GamingBolt and TheGamer. (Writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen later noted it was closer to eight hours.)
- The Unannounced Sega Project: The actor logged roughly 40 hours of dialogue, pointing to a much larger narrative scope and character footprint.
That first gaming role earned Cox a nomination for Best Performance at The Game Awards in 2025, though Cox stated that motion-capture actor Maxence Cazorla deserved the credit for the character’s physical performance.
What We Know About the Unnamed Project
Despite heavy speculation among fans, the game’s identity remains under wraps. Sega’s upcoming release calendar features several high-profile titles scheduled around 2027, including Stranger Than Heaven, Persona 6, and Alien: Isolation 2, alongside additions like Persona 4: Revival and Crazy Taxi noted by Insider Gaming. According to Final Weapon, Stranger Than Heaven is scheduled to release on January 15, 2027, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, complete with day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass. The RGG Studio game takes place over five stages or acts across Kokura, Fukuoka (1915); Kure, Hiroshima (1929); Minami, Osaka (1943); Atami, Shizuoka (1951); and Kamurocho, Shinjuku (1965). The story centers on a young Japanese-American boy named Makoto Daito, voiced by Yu Shirota, who heads on a ship from San Francisco to Japan and becomes a sidekick to Orpheus, voiced by Snoop Dogg. Additionally, Virginia, IGN’s News Editor, reported that Daredevil Born Again: Season 3 is set to release in early 2027.

Because the project lacks even a working title, analysts note it is likely early in development or being kept strictly confidential by the publisher, leaving followers to watch for an official reveal.
