The documentary, helmed by filmmaker Andrew Renzi, promises to revisit the “most outrageous moments” of Sheen’s life with “raw emotion and extraordinary warmth.” It aims to paint a portrait of a man whose struggles with self-destruction were ultimately overshadowed by the “ferocious love and forgiveness” he inspires in those close to him.
Sheen,now 59 and seven years sober,is an active participant,speaking openly about his childhood in Malibu,his rise to megawatt celebrity status in the 1980s and ’90s,and the subsequent tabloid fodder surrounding his drug use and personal life.
The project includes insights from notable figures such as Denise Richards,Heidi Fleiss,Jon Cryer,Sean Penn,Ramon Estevez,Brooke Mueller,Chris Tucker,and his former drug dealer,Marco.
Sheen’s memoir,*The Book of Sheen*,from Simon & Schuster,is slated for release on September 9,the day before the documentary’s debut.
