Inspectors conducting routine preventive rounds noticed the wreckage and immediately notified Carabineros, who rushed to secure the perimeter around the isolated area.

The procedure activated approximately at 13:30 hours on Sunday, October 4, 2026, after municipal security personnel detected the burned vehicle and alerted police forces. Inside the rear compartment, emergency responders found human remains that were likewise heavily affected by the flames. The incident drew an immediate response from specialized units tasked with handling organized crime and violent offenses.

The Ministerio Público instructed the specialized personnel of the Policía de Investigaciones alongside the Equipo contra el Crimen Organizado y Homicidios to handle the case.
