Summer is the season for picnics, and there too, there are ways to reduce the bill. Fanny Guinochet’s tips
The picnic is the convivial, fun, family moment par excellence, which mixes all generations. And it’s perfect for small budgets. And the first thing is to prepare it yourself. It’s less expensive, and often much better for your health too. So, there are many ideas to pick from cooking sites, to make it a slightly chic meal, far from the simple sandwich chips.
Choose vegetables and seasonal fruits which are less expensive
You can find them at the local market, especially at the end of the market. Go for it ! Merchants tend to lower prices. You can also favor buying from producers, to promote short circuits. And then if you go to the supermarkets, look, because there are baskets at cost price, more and more brands are setting them up sometimes once a week to inform you.
Think of mixed salads based on rice, pasta or quiches, pies which are not very expensive, and then not so difficult to make, hard-boiled eggs, which are very accessible and cheaper, for example, than charcuterie. Avoid packaged products, here too, which are often much more expensive and above all less ecological for crockery and cutlery. Take recyclable that you can use, wash. Also prefer gourds, plastic bottles or cans. Now, more and more homes have water bottles. And then it’s very simple, but fill them with tap water. You can also invest in a cooler.
Pick up your trash…
For napkins, it is better to take the good old cloth napkin. Here too, it is much better for the planet. Same for the tablecloth. We prefer fabric to paper. The picnic, we remind you, is also a real moment of break to be favored during the holidays. Especially when traveling by car, or even on the train. It is obviously much more advantageous than stopping in a restaurant, on the side of the highway or having a sandwich in the bar car.
Obviously, we cannot end this column without recalling the need to pick up your waste at the end of your picnic. Leave nature as beautiful as you found it, by doing a little sorting, it’s even better.
