London: Ticket prices for the Wimbledon 2024 men’s singles final between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz have hit a record high due to high demand. Sunday’s title clash between Djokovic and Alcaraz will be a rematch of last year’s final, where the Spaniard won a five-set thriller to claim his first grass-court major.
The most expensive ticket ever
American sports commentator Darren Rovell claims that this will be the ‘most expensive get-in final in history’, with the cheapest ticket costing USD 10,000 (roughly Rs. 8,35,193) on online ticket reselling platforms. “The Djokovic-Alcaraz Wimbledon final will be the most expensive final ticket in the history of the sport. Right now, tickets for the worst seat for Sunday are going for over $10,000,” Rovell wrote on X.
Official tickets start from Rs 30,000
Wimbledon’s official price list shows a Centre Court seat ticket for the final at 275 pounds (roughly Rs. 29,172.56). On Sunday, Djokovic will seek revenge against Alcaraz and aim to equal Roger Federer’s record of eight trophies at The All England Club. If he wins the title, the 37-year-old will become the oldest champion in the tournament’s history and reach a record 25 major titles.
The Serbian player has a 3-2 career lead over Alcaraz. He has not won a single Grand Slam title this year yet. After defeating him in the semi-finals of the Australian Open, Djokovic withdrew from the French Open midway due to injury. Former number 1 Serbian player Djokovic has performed well throughout the event and lost only two sets in reaching his 10th Wimbledon final.
