Anti-corruption police on Tuesday raided a total of 59 places, including the homes and offices of former minister SB Velumani and his relatives and friends, on charges of amassing wealth in excess of income.

Another case was registered against 10 people, including SB Velumani, on Monday following a complaint by Coimbatore Anti-Corruption Police Inspector Ezhilarasi. Former minister SB Velumani has amassed assets worth Rs 58.23 crore in excess of his income. This is 3,928 percent more than his income.

Police jump over wall: SB Velumani’s house in Sukunapuram was raided by DSP at 6 am on Tuesday. A five-member anti-corruption police team led by Mathiyalakan arrived. When the house guard stopped them, the police team refused to accept and jumped over the wall of SB Velumani’s house and went inside the house. The AIADMK gathered in front of SB Velumani’s house and chanted slogans condemning the DMK government and the police.
Police raided SB Velumani’s farm house in Thondamuthur and his brother Anparasan’s house in Coimbatore and the trust offices he runs. In the house and offices of Vadavalli Chandrasekhar, a close associate of SB Velumani, Singanallur MLA. K.R. The raids also took place at Jayaram’s house.
As part of the raid, the Anti-Corruption Department raided a popular jewelery shop on Tirupur Kumaran Road and the house of businessman Jayaprakash, who lives in Udumalai Gandhi Nagar.

11 kg of gold seized
It has been reported that 11 kg of gold was seized during a search of the house of former minister SB Velumani.

Kg of gold jewelery, 118.506 kg of silver and documents were recovered. An unaccounted amount of Rs 84 lakh, mobile phones, security lock keys of several banks, laptops, computer hard disks and documents were seized. It has also been revealed that it has invested Rs 34 lakh in cryptocurrencies.
Not a single rupee was seized
In Coimbatore, former minister SB Velumani told reporters:
Not even a single rupee was seized from my house during the second raid due to political agenda. He said we will face such trials legally.
Former ministers CV Shanmugam, Thangamani, KP Anpalagan, Senkottayan, RP Udayakumar, Karuppanan, MR Vijayabaskar and other AIADMK leaders met SB Velumani at his residence.
