“Against the backdrop of an increase in the incidence of coronavirus and the spread of a new strain of Omicron, the Organizer of Transportation is intensifying checks for compliance with anti-COVID measures in Moscow’s public transport. The number of controllers who carry out round-the-clock control over the wearing of masks in transport has been increased by 50%,” Sultanov said, adding that checks on compliance with anti-COVID measures on trains and on the platforms of the Moscow metro will also be carried out in an enhanced mode.

According to him, some passengers take off their masks or put them on their chins.

“We urge citizens to respect each other’s health and follow preventive measures in transport – wear a mask correctly, completely covering your nose and mouth. These simple rules help contain the virus and prevent the growth of infections,” Sultanov stressed.

On January 12, Sultanov said that more than 550 thousand violators without masks were identified in Moscow transport in 2021. He recalled that, in accordance with the requirement of Rospotrebnadzor, masks are still mandatory, compliance with the mask regime prevents the spread of coronavirus.
