The price of the Russian light tactical fighter Checkmate will be $ 25-30 million, RIA Novosti reports, citing Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov.
“(The price will be – ed.) 25-30 million dollars,” Chemezov said at the MAKS-2021 air show.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, potential customers for the new Russian fighter will be India, Vietnam and African countries. The demand for Checkmate is estimated at 300 cars. The deadline for bringing the aircraft to the international market is 2025-2026, he stressed.
“First of all, it will indeed be oriented towards African countries, India and Vietnam. The demand for these aircraft is quite high, at least 300 aircraft are estimated in the near future, ”Borisov told reporters at the air show.
At the same time, the fighter itself will be ready within four years, noted the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov.
“Taking into account the maximum unification in terms of aviation weapons, in terms of component base, in units, in the design of the aircraft, to unify as much as possible with the Su-57 in order to reduce the cost, perhaps, some components so that the machine (Checkmate – ed. cheaper than the Su-35. The main market for us will be international supplies, but we also expect, of course, that our Armed Forces will acquire a certain amount of this equipment, ”he said.
Checkmate premiered at the MAKS-2021 air show in Zhukovsky near Moscow. The aircraft will become the first fifth-generation light multi-role fighter with one engine in Russia.
