The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rain with thunder in 21 districts of Tamil Nadu. The alert is in effect until 10 pm and residents are advised to take precautions.
The affected districts include Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, Th. Malai, Vellore, Nagai, Erode, Madurai, Krishnagiri, Thirupathur, Ranipet, Dharamapuri, Villupuram, Perambalur, Kadalur, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur, Salem, Namakkal, and Kallakurichi.
The Meteorological Center has urged residents in these areas to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. Those living in low-lying areas are advised to take necessary precautions to prevent flooding.
The authorities have also alerted fishermen against venturing into the sea during this time due to the possibility of rough weather conditions.
