Chennai and 21 districts of Tamil Nadu on alert as Meteorological Department predicts heavy rain and thunder

The affected districts include Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, Th. Malai, Vellore, Nagai, Erode, Madurai, Krishnagiri, Thirupathur, Ranipet, Dharamapuri, Villupuram, Perambalur, Kadalur, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur, Salem, Namakkal, and Kallakurichi.

The Meteorological Center has urged residents in these areas to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. Those living in low-lying areas are advised to take necessary precautions to prevent flooding.

The authorities have also alerted fishermen against venturing into the sea during this time due to the possibility of rough weather conditions.

It is recommended that residents keep a close watch on weather updates and follow the instructions issued by local authorities.
