Urban local body elections in Tamil Nadu were held on the 19th. The election results were released on the 22nd.
The 12,838 ward councilors who won the election will take office this morning. Arrangements have been made in all the corporations, municipalities and boroughs.

DMK wins Chennai Municipal Council elections In 153 wards, the AIADMK Won in all 15 wards.
The Congress is in 13 wards and the Marxist Communist Party and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam are in 4 wards each. In 2 wards, the Communist Party of India, the Indian Union Muslim League, the BJP, the AIADMK They have won one ward each. The Independents have won in five wards.
The 200 winning candidates are today taking over as councilors of their wards.

Chennai Corporation Commissioner Kagandeep Singh Bedi administers the oath of office to the councilors.
Following this, a formal election will be held the next day (Friday) to elect the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Chennai Corporation.
The newly elected councilors are to elect the mayor and deputy mayor of the Metropolitan Corporation of Chennai.
