Notice has been issued that all the gates of the Chennai High Court will be closed from tonight till tomorrow night.
During the British rule, the High Court was built in the middle of George Town, Barimuna and Florist areas and the people living in these areas had to go around the High Court. Over the course of the day the High Court premises began to be used as a path. With this in mind, the court administration announced that all the gates of the court would be closed one day a year, making it unusable, so that people would not have to claim the court premises lanes in the future. The procedure is to be observed on the first Saturday of the first week of December every year. Accordingly, all the gates of the Chennai High Court will be closed from 8 pm tonight till 8 pm tomorrow.
