The Chennai High Court has quashed the case registered against actor Simbu by the Chennai Police in the ‘Beep’ song case.

In 2015, actor Simbu released a song ‘Beep’ on the internet claiming that he sang obscene songs about women. Following this, women’s organizations staged a protest against Simbu, who sang the song, and Anirudh, the composer who composed the song. Following this, Simbu lodged a complaint with the police against Anirudh. Based on the complaint, the Coimbatore Race Course and the Chennai Central Crime Branch police registered a case and conducted an investigation.

In this situation, actor Simbu had filed a petition in the Chennai High Court seeking the quashing of both the cases against him. When the petition came up for hearing last time, the judge ordered the cancellation of the case filed in the Coimbatore Race Course on the basis of the inquiry report of the Coimbatore Magistrate.

Accepting the report, the judge also ordered the cancellation of the case registered against Simbu at the Chennai Central Criminal Division Police.
