Chennai High Court Receives Petition Against Continued Tenure of Ministers Udayanidhi, Shekharbabu, and DMK MP Raja

Chennai, India – A case has been filed in the Chennai High Court challenging the continuation of Ministers Udayanidhi, Shekharbabu, and DMK MP Raja in their respective positions. The petition, filed by D. Manohar, State Secretary of the Hindu Front Organization, alleges that Minister Udayanidhi made a controversial statement calling for the abolition of Sanatana Dharma (eternal religion) in a recent meeting. Furthermore, it highlights Minister Shekhar Babu’s participation in the said meeting, which violates the oath taken by elected officials to support the beliefs and faith of the people they represent.

In the petition, Manohar argues that it is unfitting for a minister or MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) to attend a gathering that contradicts the religious sentiments of the public. According to him, this breach of trust disqualifies Ministers Udayanidhi and Shekhar Babu from holding their respective offices. The petition also mentions that leading Hindu figure Kishore Kumar, DMK MP Raja, and State Vice President of the Hindu Front Jayakumar have filed separate cases against Minister Shekhar Babu.

These three petitions were presented before Justice Anita Sumant, who ordered the petitioners to provide evidence of the conversations involving the three accused individuals. The judge adjourned the hearing until the 11th of next month to allow the petitioners sufficient time to gather and present the required evidence.

Senior Advocate G. Karthikeyan appeared on behalf of the petitioners, presenting their case before the court. Senior Advocate P. Wilson, representing Minister Udayanidhi and MP Raja, and Senior Advocate N. Jyoti, representing Minister Shekhar Babu, also appeared to defend their clients.

This case has attracted significant attention, as it raises questions about the integrity and commitment of public officials towards their constituents’ religious beliefs. The outcome of the hearing will determine whether Ministers Udayanidhi and Shekhar Babu can continue to hold their positions within the government.
