The metro train service between Chennai Koyambedu and St. Thomas Mount was affected around 6 pm today. In this regard, many metro train passengers posted complaints on social media including Twitter about waiting for a long time. As it is rainy season, people prefer to travel by metro train. Hence, the metro stations were crowded.

Following this, a report was released by the Metro Rail administration regarding these complaints. The statement said, “Due to fault in the high tension power cable between Koyambedu and St. Thomas Mount, Metro train services are running only on one route every 20 minutes.

Metro train services are running every 20 minutes on downline (single line) between Koyambedu and St. Thomas Mount (Green Line) due to fault in OHE. Intercorridor traffic between Central and Airport has been temporarily suspended due to this.

Passengers traveling to the airport on the Green Line are requested to take a different transfer from Alandur Metro Station to travel to the airport. Tunnel train service between Central and Airport has been temporarily suspended.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused to our passengers. We request public cooperation as our teams are working on war footing to restore our services,” it said.
