Chennai Crime Branch Deputy Commissioner Transferred Amidst Money Laundering Investigation

Chennai – In a surprising turn of events, Deputy Commissioner Nagajothi of the Central Crime Branch, who was leading the investigation into a money laundering case involving Minister Senthil Balaji, has been abruptly transferred overnight.

Minister Senthil Balaji, who previously held the position of Minister of Transport in the ADMK regime, has been accused of embezzling a staggering sum of 1.62 crores intended for government job creation.

The complaint against Balaji was filed by Ganesh Kumar and other concerned citizens at the Chennai Police Commissioner’s office. As a result, the Central Crime Branch police initiated three separate cases and commenced their investigation.

Deputy Commissioner Nagajothi, who had been spearheading the investigation, was known for his unwavering dedication to the case. During a meeting at the Chief Secretariat regarding Senthil Balaji’s case, which was attended by DGP, Law and Order, Yaga Shailendrababu, Nagajothi expressed his commitment to ensuring that no compromise would be made in the case.

However, higher officials condemned Nagajothi’s staunch stance, leading to widespread speculation that he would soon be removed from the investigation. In an attempt to avoid controversy, it was suggested that Nagajothi take a month-long vacation before his transfer.

Reportedly exhausted from his efforts in the ongoing investigation, Nagajothi found himself transferred overnight. He has now been assigned as the SP of the State Crime Records Bureau, a position that some consider to be merely a “dummy” post.

Nagajothi, formerly the Deputy Commissioner – 1 of the Central Crime Branch, has been succeeded by Stalin, who was previously the Deputy Commissioner – 3 of the same department.

This sudden turn of events comes at a critical time in the investigation, as the Supreme Court has mandated that the Chennai Central Crime Branch complete their investigation into the three cases registered against Senthil Balaji and others involved in the money laundering scandal by September 30.

The transfer of Deputy Commissioner Nagajothi has raised eyebrows and led many to question the motives behind this sudden decision. The public awaits further updates on the investigation and hopes for a transparent and unbiased resolution to the money laundering case.
