Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) is ramping up its efforts to meet the increasing demand for electricity in the state. With the announcement of several new power projects, TNEB is gearing up to provide a steady supply of power to support the growth of industries and manufacturing sectors in the region.

In Thiruvallur District, North Chennai – 3, a new power plant with a capacity of 800 MW is set to be commissioned soon. Additionally, the Ennuar Special plant, with a capacity of 1,320 megawatts, is also on track to meet the growing demand for electricity. Furthermore, the Ennuar expansion project is underway, with plans to set up thermal power plants with a capacity of 660 MW.

The increasing demand for electricity is being driven by the surge in investments in various industries and the manufacturing sector. The recently concluded World Investors Conference saw investments worth 3.79 lakh crore rupees pouring into the state. In the IT sector alone, an MoU has been signed to invest Rs 22,130 crore, further highlighting the need for a reliable and robust power supply.

Recognizing the need for additional power generation, TNEB has directed its engineers to expedite the construction work of the new thermal power projects. The increased capacity will not only support existing industries but also attract new investments and provide the necessary infrastructure to fuel economic growth in the region.

As Tamil Nadu continues to position itself as a preferred destination for investment and industrial development, the efforts of TNEB to bolster the power infrastructure are crucial in sustaining this growth trajectory. With the expansion of power projects and the commitment to meeting the increasing demand for electricity, TNEB is poised to play a pivotal role in supporting the state’s economic growth and development.
