“Alexa, turn on the set light!” It made sense for Chenoa to inaugurate this new stage of ‘Operation Triumph’ by invoking Amazon’s virtual assistant; after all, Prime Video will be the new home of this format that already has 22 years of history and that, after passing through La 1 and Telecinco, arrives for the first time in a streaming service.

The singer, who came fourth in the first edition of the contest, was in charge this Wednesday of conducting the presentation of the longest-running ‘talent show’ on our television, as a preview of the role she will play during the galas where, throughout Over 14 weeks, it will be decided who of the 16 contestants wins the cash prize of 100,000 euros.

There were two scenarios chosen: the academy where the participants will live together for the duration of the contest and the set where the galas will take place, both in an enclave in Terrassa (Barcelona). “I feel very grateful to be here,” Chenoa said. “It’s been a lifetime, this is very exciting and I’m very nervous,” she continued, while highlighting that “the essence of ‘OT’ is here and it’s brutal.”

To whet your appetite, the platform will upload two 45-minute specials this Friday that summarize the final casting that left the more than 13,000 applications in 18 candidates, who will be the ones who participate in the so-called zero gala on Monday, at 10:00 p.m. , where it is decided who are the 16 contestants who finally enter the academy. The bet is important because it will be the first time that an entertainment program is broadcast live through a video on demand service in our country and also because the ‘talent show’ will cross the pond and reach more than thirty Latin American countries. , among which are Argentina, Colombia, Mexico or Brazil. It will not do it, yes, live, but as soon as the galas end, the episode will become available on the platform.

And, of course, Latin American viewers will also be able to vote to save their favorite contestants. They will do it like the Spaniards, through a free ‘app’ that will allow you to vote once a day, except on gala Mondays, when you can vote twice to save one of the nominees: once before the performances and the other during the live broadcast.

Tinet Rubira, director of Gestmusic, said that the “big news” of this edition is that the galas will only last ninety minutes. “We are going to do the contest quickly and to the point, putting the focus on the songs,” he stated. “The important thing is that the structure is well planned and very dynamic and that the contestant enjoys it because for me that ‘hey, how are you feeling?’ It made me very nervous and it was horrible,” Chenoa recalled with amusement, who on one occasion stated that she had difficulty speaking and a lump formed in her throat when she remembered video moments of her editing. It seems, however, that the rest of the gala will remain untouchable because, Rubira joked, “the format has many Taliban and there are things that we cannot touch.” Thus, the group performances will continue, where all the artists who are still in the academy participate; the performances of the nominees to see who manages to save themselves and the songs in the competition.

The 1,200 square meter set will once again have two very different areas: the stage, which is the largest since the 2017 edition, and the space that the contestants and jury share between songs. To these we must add the pit and the legendary catwalk, somewhat more discreet than in previous editions. With capacity for about 900 people in the audience, “the idea – explained Rubira – is that the set resembles a live concert as much as possible.”

The 400 square meters of high-resolution LED screens and the 500 lighting fixtures, of which more than 200 are robotic, will turn the set during the performances into a 360-degree space that will be captured by eleven cameras, an eleven-meter crane , a SpiderCam for aerial shots and a traveling in front of the stage that runs approximately 16 meters wide. Additionally, for the first time, the audio design is 5.1 and immersive. “Everything is designed for an immersive experience and so that our artists have a great showcase and their talent shines and shines,” says Rubira.

Four members for the jury

The singer Buika, the music journalist Cris Regatero and the producer Pablo Rouss will be the ones who, week by week, will judge the performances of the contestants. “I look for people to transmit things to me beyond their vocal talent,” Rouss acknowledged. The three will be joined every week by an artist who, according to Rubira, “will be a great artist, often with one foot in Latin America and another in Spain.”

But ‘Operation Triumph 2023’ does not end there. Gestmusic promises more than eighty hours of entertainment, through the 45-minute post-galas that the ‘youtuber’ Masi Rodríguez will present, in which what happened at the gala will be analyzed, the expelled contestant will be said goodbye and some of the things that will be highlighted will be highlighted. have occurred throughout the week at the academy, along with the director of the academy, Noemí Galera, and the teachers who attended the gala that day. “It’s going to be a more relaxed moment, to relax,” said the actress. And also through ‘OT al día’, a daily format that Xuxo Jones will present from Tuesday to Saturday at 10:00 p.m. and where he will tell the day-to-day life of the academy.

An academy that, judging by the guided tour, has also been subject to changes. To begin with, 215 square meters have been gained, up to 1,215, because there are no longer corridors for the cameras and the 55 cameras are visible and are robotic. Again, the space is distributed in a living area, with a living room, terrace, kitchen – the contestants do not cook or clean, but they are in charge of collecting the dishes and putting on the dishwasher -, dining room and even a botanical room full of plants. , and in a work area, with a recording studio and rooms where teachers like Manu Guix – “since we have been without ‘OT’ for three years, I really want the format,” he once said – or Abril Zamora, will teach their classes, to Chenoa “the great prize of ‘OT'”.

Natural light

Thanks to technical advances, the production team has been able to open the space to natural light “so that the contestants do not have the feeling of being on a set.” Furthermore, almost any point of the academy can be seen from any other, thanks to some glass windows that have already claimed a victim. “Noemí has already slammed herself against the glass, but we are not going to put stickers,” Rubira said. Additionally, contestants will not be able to smoke because the building is now a smoke-free space. Nature enters and tobacco leaves.

Much more austere is the changing room area with six showers divided into two rooms, several dryers and washing machines and a room without cameras, with 16 beds distributed in bunk beds. “It’s a room that looks more like a colony or a monastery, but here the contestants only come to sleep and the rest of the day the door is closed,” Rubira excuses herself. By the way, they have also made a room to isolate a participant in the event that they become infected with covid.

Be careful, the synergies with Amazon do not end here, since the business giant intends to make money with everything. It will be possible, for example, to buy almost anything – from appliances to clothing – seen at the academy with just one button, and the albums and songs from the galas will be on Amazon Music beforehand.
