Cheongdo-gun Dementia Care Center is operating ‘Dagachi Forest Love Pongdang’, which combines a forest healing program with a dementia cognition reinforcement classroom. Cheongdo-gun (Governor Kim Ha-su) Dementia Care Center announced that it will operate ‘Dagachi Forest Love Pongdang’, a dementia cognition reinforcement (forest healing) program for mild dementia patients and their guardians, every Thursday from August to October for a total of eight times.

The ‘Dagachi Forest Aepongdang’ program was created to combine dementia prevention education and cognitive training with a forest healing anti-aging program, and to delay the possibility and timing of dementia onset through various activities such as forest experiences, and to promote symptom improvement and emotional stability in dementia patients.

In addition, it was designed to utilize various environmental elements existing in the forest to provide psychological stability and healing for not only dementia patients but also their families suffering from mental stress due to caring for patients, and to restore the body’s immunity and physical and mental health.

In particular, the military signed agreements with the Cheongdo Forest Recreation Center, Forest Playground Cooperative, and Unmunsan National Natural Recreation Forest, and is expected to have a very high satisfaction rate among program participants by linking and operating various “dementia prevention, forest healing, and anti-aging programs” such as forest interpretation, forest path walking, forest bathing exercises, phytoncide breathing and meditation, and woodworking programs.

Meanwhile, Cheongdo-gun Dementia Care Center is actively working to develop various programs to improve the cognitive and physical functions of dementia patients whose functions have declined due to aging, as well as to vitalize dementia prevention projects through active collaboration between related organizations.

The director of the Namjung-gu Dementia Care Center said, “When it comes to dementia, prevention is more important than treatment.” He added, “We will do our best to prevent dementia and improve overcoming abilities by actively utilizing the abundant forest resources in our county to operate various horticultural healing programs.”
