Cheongsong-gun recommended a cool summer vacation spot. Cheongsong-gun recommended a cool vacation spot where you can escape the heat and travel comfortably at the oxygen cafe that provides a feeling and rest during the hot summer season.
Juwangsan (146 Gongwon-gil, Juwangsan-myeon)
Juwangsan, the 12th national park in Korea, is a place with spectacular scenery created by rock peaks that catch your eye and deep, beautiful valleys. Along the trail, there are many rock peaks such as strange rocks, Yeonhwabong, Gyeopsu-dae, Sirubong, and Hakso-dae, and Yongchu, Jeolgu, and Yongyeon Falls, which are created by deep, beautiful valleys, creating a spectacular view. Although it is considered one of the three major rocky mountains in Korea, the trail is flat enough to allow strollers. In the fall, when the leaves change color, many people flock there, but in the summer, you can walk along a somewhat quiet path.
Ice Valley (230 Palgaksan-ro, Juwangsan-myeon)
If you head towards Okgye Valley in Yeongdeok-gun from Juwangsan, you will see the cool artificial Ice Valley waterfall. The area around this valley freezes when the outside temperature exceeds 32°C in midsummer, and the water in the valley is as cold as ice. If you sit under the shade of a tree and watch the waterfall pour down powerfully while drinking some Ice Valley mineral water, it will be a vacation you can’t ask for more.
Shinsung Valley (Andeok-myeon Shinsung-ri ~ Gowari)
Shinsung Valley boasts spectacular scenery, clear water, and a dense pine forest, and the entire valley from Banghojeong to Gowari Baekseoktan has been designated as one of the eight scenic views of Cheongsong. In addition, this place is also a place for learning about the global environment, as it contains four geological sites of Cheongsong UNESCO Global Geopark, including Shinsung-ri Dinosaur Footprint Fossil Site, Banghojeong Gamippokryucheon, and Baekseoktan Pothole. Shinsung-ri Dinosaur Footprint Fossil Site is where about 400 dinosaur footprints were discovered after a landslide caused by Typhoon Maemi in 2003, and a small park with dinosaur models is used as a learning center and photo zone. Banghojeong Gamippokryucheon is a famous place with a beautiful stream, sedimentary rock cliffs, and Banghojeong, a provincially designated folk cultural asset. Banghojeong is a pavilion built by Joseon Dynasty scholar Bangho Jo Jun-do in a place where he could see the grave of his mother, Andong Kwon, because he deeply missed her. It is a must-see attraction if you visit Shinsung Valley. Lastly, Baekseoktan Pothole in Gowari Valley, Andeok-myeon, is a group of rocks that look like miniature peaks of the Alps, and the jade water flowing between the white rocks makes you think it is a fairyland.
