Cher Gets Real About Aging: “I’d Give Anything to Be 70 Again”
In a recent interview with the “Today” show, 77-year-old pop star Cher revealed the age she’d go back to if she could “turn back time.” Surprisingly, it’s not what fans might have expected.
The conversation took place as the Grammy winner discussed the 25th anniversary of her hit song “Believe.” When asked about the milestone, Cher responded with humor, saying, “It’s not that amazing, OK? It pisses me — It pisses the f**k out of me .… It just is, like, what is this?!”
She then admitted, “I’d give anything to be 70 again!”
This is not the first time Cher has been candid about her feelings on aging. In a 2020 interview with The Guardian, she described the experience as “not as much fun,” acknowledging that as she gets older, things like working the road and going out dancing all night have become more challenging.
Despite her honest reflections on aging, Cher has also taken a lighthearted approach. In a tweet on her birthday back in May, she humorously asked, “When Will I Feel OLD?” Her fans quickly responded with messages of support, praising her timeless spirit and eternal beauty.
It’s clear that Cher’s fans see her as an ageless icon, and as one person wrote on Twitter, “Age is a number. When you open your heart (like I know you do) we are ageless.”
Cher’s recent comments on aging come as she celebrated the release of her new Christmas album, “Christmas,” on Oct. 20. While she may not be thrilled about getting older, it’s clear that her fans’ love and support keep her feeling forever young.
