Six more days for the Pooram of Poorams. Cheru Pooram from today. Twenty20 Cricket World Cup starts in Australia on Saturday. Qualifiers will begin today to find four more teams for the Super 12 tournament. Sri Lanka and West Indies will play qualifiers.
Eight teams including India have already qualified. Eight teams are competing for the last four spots. Group A consists of Sri Lanka, Namibia, Netherlands and UAE teams. West Indies, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Scotland are in Group B.
Sri Lanka will face Namibia at 9:30 am today. The UAE-Netherlands match is at half past noon. Qualifiers will be completed on 21st.
The top two in both groups qualify. The first group for the Super 12 matches consists of Australia, England, New Zealand and Afghanistan. The Group A winners and B runners-up from the qualifying round will be joined. India, Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh will be joined by Group A runners-up and Group B winners. The semi-finals will be held on November 9 and 10. The final will be held on the 15th.
