The 44th Olympiad Chess Tournament is going to be held at Pooncheri Village Sports Complex, Mamallapuram, Chengalpattu District. On this occasion, a notice was issued to hold a chess competition for the students of government schools in Tamil Nadu. Accordingly, chess competition started yesterday in government schools in Erode district. Students enthusiastically participated in these school-level competitions.
The headmistress of the school Suganthi inaugurated the chess competition held at the Erode Government Model Higher Secondary School. In this the competition was conducted in 4 categories namely Class 1 to Class 5, Class 6 to Class 8, Class 9 and SSLC, Plus-1 and Plus-2. .

These matches were conducted in 6 rounds. 120 students participated and displayed their skills. Erode S.K.C. A chess match was also held at the Corporation Middle School on the road. School Headmistress Sumathi started the competition. 19 students participated and played in this.
Prizes were awarded to the top 3 students in each category in the school level competition. These matches are going on till tomorrow (Friday). Also, the students who won the first 2 places in the competitions conducted in 3 categories from 6th to Plus-2 were selected for the district level competition. The winners will qualify for district level competition. The students who win the competition will participate in the state level competition.
