: Kallakurichi, : The Collector inaugurated the Chess Olympiad torch relay in Kallakurichi. The 44th International Chess Tournament will start tomorrow on 28th at Mamallapuram. On this occasion, Collector Shravan Kumar yesterday welcomed the Chess Olympiad torch from Coimbatore district through the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority.
Subsequently, in order to create awareness about the Chess Olympiad, he distributed hand fans with an awareness picture about the competition to the public and students and pasted awareness stickers on the autos. Also, he visited the chess competition held at the collector’s office and saw 12 winners and participants in national, state and district level chess competitions in the last year. During the program, Project Director Mani, Collector’s Interview Assistant Suresh, District Transport Officers, Jayapaskaran, Sentharvel, CEO, Vijayalakshmi, Erode Sports Girls Hostel Manager Polkodi, District Physical Education Inspector Balaji and others participated.
