Pragyananda, the Grand Master from Tamil Nadu, defeated World Champion Magnus Carlsen in the Cheesy Masters Rapid Chess Tournament.
The Cheesy Masters Rapid Chess Tournament is running online. 16 players took part in it. In the fifth round, Rameshbabu Pragyananda, a young Grand Master from Chennai, faced world champion and number one player Magnus Carlsen of Norway. Pragyananda, who played with black pieces, claimed the victory during the 40th move. With this win Pragyananda extends his knock-out round chances with 12 points. Abhimanyu Misra, the world’s youngest Grand Master, is also competing in the 16-man event.
Pragyananda had already defeated Magnus Carlsen in the Earthings Masters Rapid Chess Tournament last February.
