Deadly Downtown Chicago Shooting Leaves One dead, Three Wounded

A shooting in downtown Chicago early Sunday morning left one man dead and three others hospitalized with gunshot wounds. The incident, which occurred in the 400-block of N. LaSalle Drive, is currently under investigation by the Chicago Police Department (CPD).

Police responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 2:35 a.m. on December 28, 2025.Initial reports indicate that four male suspects approached a group of four men as they were entering a vehicle and opened fire.

Victims and Injuries

A 34-year-old man sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at Northwestern Hospital. According to police, a 36-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, a 43-year-old man was shot in the back, and a 35-year-old man sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

All three surviving victims are currently receiving treatment at Northwestern Hospital.Their conditions have not been released at this time.

Authorities report that the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle. As of Sunday afternoon, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing. Detectives are reviewing security footage from nearby businesses and residences in an attempt to identify the vehicle and the individuals involved. The motive for the shooting is currently unknown, but police are exploring several possibilities, including gang-related activity and a possible targeted attack.

“The investigation is in its early stages, and detectives are working diligently to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for this senseless act of violence,” a senior official stated.
