(24News) After the fall of Prime Minister Hasina Wajid‘s government in Bangladesh and the subsequent formation of an interim government led by Professor Dr. Muhammad Younis, Chief Justice Obaidullah Hasan resigned.
According to foreign media reports, the student-led protests that had gripped the country had given the Chief Justice a two-hour ultimatum to resign. Following Prime Minister Hasina Wajid’s resignation, Muhammad Yunus was appointed as the head of the interim government, a move demanded by the protesting students. He was officially sworn in on the same day by President Muhammad Shahabuddin at the President’s House.
It’s worth noting that the protests that led to Hasina’s resignation after 15 years in power were fueled by student activism. Hundreds of people tragically lost their lives during these demonstrations.
