Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has congratulated Dr. Draupathi Murmu, who has taken over as the President of India, “your election as the President of the Republic shows the confidence and strength of the country in the democratic principle.”

Congratulatory message issued by the Chief Minister: “I offer my best wishes to you as the President of the Republic of India. Your election shows the country’s faith and strength in democratic principles.

I am sure that the country will benefit from your services as the President of India and wish you well,” he said.

Earlier, after the traditional procedures, at 10.05 am, President Ram Nath Kovind and President-elect Dravupati Murmu arrived at the Central Hall of Parliament with a procession.

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Supreme Court Chief Justice NV Ramana, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Ministers, Chief Ministers of various states, MPs, ambassadors of various countries and army chiefs participated in the function.

Supreme Court Chief Justice NV Ramana administered the oath of office to the new President Draupathi Murmu at 10.15 am. This was followed by a 21-gun salute to the new President. Subsequently, the new President Draupadi Murmu addressed the Parliament.

Later, Drarubathi Murmu and Ram Nath Kovind went to the President’s House. There Dravupati Murmu accepted the honors of the procession.
