Chief Minister’s relief fund scam: Organized move, vigilance director says

Manoj Abraham, director of Vigiland, said that he was convinced that the Chief Minister’s relief fund fraud was a planned scheme. It is suspected that there is a team. The examination shows that the disease mentioned in the application is different and the certificate is for a different disease. Manoj Abraham added that all this is shown as an organized move.

The vigilance director also said that the same number of an agent was found in several applications. Vigilance examined the applications for two years. Many irregularities were found in this. The chief minister’s office itself was suspicious of the requests for help. Then the CM’s office called the vigilance and informed about this.

The chief minister’s office came to know about the fraud when they themselves verified a few suspicious applications. Manoj Abraham said that the vigilance was alerted and an inspection was ordered. Based on this, an extensive inspection was conducted.

Irregularities were found at several places. Further action will be decided on the basis of preliminary examination. A field inquiry will be conducted as part of the inspection. The inspection will be done at the homes of the applicants and at the village offices. This way, it becomes clear who is involved, including middlemen and officials.
