Juventus player for 17 years, Giorgio Chiellini returned to Piedmont as manager.
Giorgio Chiellini est “back home”: the former Italian footballer who ended his playing career last December is now the head coach of Juventus Turin, the club where he spent the most of his career. “I’m back home, in a different way and force, the bianconero is part of me”the 2021 European champion wrote on his social networks on Monday.
Chiellini does not have a sporting role, but a management one: he is the director of corporate relations at Juve, who reports directly to the president of the most successful company in Italian football, Maurizio Scanavino.
Chiellini wore the famous Bianconero jersey from 2005 to 2022 and won nine Italian championship titles, all in a row between 2012 and 2020, five editions of the Italian Cup, as well as several editions of the Italian Super Cup.
But he did not win the crown in Europe, despite two Champions League finals, losing in 2015 and 2017. He ended his career in the North American MLS Championship where he played a season and a half with Los Angeles FC.
