Chikunova and Efimova took fourth and fifth places in swimming at the Olympics

Evgenia Chikunova finished fourth in the final 100-meter breaststroke at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Yulia Efimova became fifth. American Lydia Jacobi won the gold medal.

Lydia Jacobi covered the distance in 1 minute 04.95 seconds, South African Tatiana Shenmaker finished second (1.05.22), American Lilly King (1.05.54) finished third. Evgenia Chikunova showed the result – 1.05.90, Yulia Efimova – 1.06.02.

Yulia Efimova is 29 years old, she is the silver medalist of the 2016 Olympics in swimming at 100 meters and 200 meters breaststroke and the bronze medalist of the 2012 Olympics at a distance of 200 meters breaststroke. Efimova won six times at the world championships and seven times at the European championships. Evgenia Chikunova is 16 years old, on account of her victories at the Russian championships, silver in the combined relay of the European championship.

Earlier today, July 27, Russian swimmers won gold and silver in the 100m backstroke. The first was Evgeny Rylov, the second – Kliment Kolesnikov. In third place is the American Ryan Murphy. The last time Russian swimmers won gold in swimming was at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
