Russian students were dismayed when they had to sit at school desks decorated with the faces of soldiers fighting in Ukraine. Some of the students refused to sit at the tables in the school. The tables are part of the Putin regime’s plan to promote the war in Ukraine

Two Russian students fainted when they were shown new school desks decorated with pictures and details of fighters killed in the war in Ukraine, according to local media. Other students refused to sit at the desks at the school in Irkutsk, the capital of Russia’s Irkutsk region, which display pictures of dead soldiers.

A teacher said: “They were shocked and crying and passed out,” said a teacher. A student added: “It’s the same as learning about her tombstone.” Putin’s regime is using cheap propaganda to market the war in schools, and the tribute to the fighters is part of that campaign.

Also, the students are expected to undergo military training and are required to sing patriotic songs. Teacher Alexei Volk, who is in charge of the cadet classes at the school, admitted that the sight of the desks was too much for some students. But according to him, most of them consider it ‘an honor to sit at such tables’. Soldiers who were well-known in the area were among those commemorated on school desks.
