Anyone who grows up as a hearing child of deaf parents takes on responsibility early on, but often also feels lost. Fortunately, there are companions in fate.

Eit starts with the little things. Annalisa Weyel often saw in them that she grew up differently than most people. That she had different experiences. To put it bluntly: is different. Little things like the “Dellephin”. That’s what Weyel called Delphine when she was a toddler. A speech impediment, not Weyel’s only one at the time.

And it goes on. With the fact that Weyel communicated intuitively using sign language in kindergarten before someone told her that she could also speak out loud there. With the fact that Weyel had to order for her parents in the restaurant as a child, not the other way around as usual: the adults for the little ones. The situation left her no other choice. Because the waitress doesn’t know how to communicate with Weyel’s parents.
