The ax falls on aid for children with disabilities. In the name of keeping accounts in order and safeguarding municipal coffers, specialist assistance for the benefit of special pupils of Battipaglia and surrounding areas will remain at a reduced rate compared to past years, when children had to work between 18 and 32 hours a week depending on the dictates set out in the PEI, the individualized educational plans. Vague memories: from now on, for the most critical cases, we will not go beyond 600 minutes every seven days. Some will have 300, others still 420.
The decision
On the eve of the first bell ringing, last September, the coordinator of the Area plan S04–1, Giuliano Casohad arranged that all pupils with disabilities who attend the schools of the district – Battipaglia, Bellizzi e Olevano sul Tusciano – benefited from five hours. A provisional choice “pending – we read in the circular – the approval of the PEI”. The long-awaited final decision arrived in the heart of November: five, seven or ten hours.
