Chile announced on Thursday that it will reinforce its northern border and will seek to coordinate with other countries in the region to deal with a possible new wave of migration from Venezuela, following the re-election of President Nicolás Maduro in the South American country.
“There is concern that this could escalate. and we certainly have to prepare for that,” said Interior Minister Carolina Tohá.
