Chilean Actors ‍Union Files Lawsuit ‌Against ⁢Mega and Canal 13

The president⁤ of the Chilean actors’⁢ union,⁣ ChileActores, recently filed a lawsuit against the Mega and Canal 13 television channels for failing to⁤ comply‍ with payments and contracts.

The complaint,‍ filed with the 5th Civil Court of Santiago, alleges that both stations have violated the current rate ​contracts that have been ⁣in effect since 2018. ChileActores claims ⁤that Mega owes interpreters $45‍ million ⁢pesos through⁣ the last quarter of 2023, while Canal 13 owes approximately ⁤$61 million.

The union president, Hope Silva, ⁤expressed his outrage at the situation,⁣ stating,⁢ “They add signs, use our ‌works more intensively, and despite this,⁣ they intend ‍to‌ pay ‌less than agreed.”

Silva further accused⁣ Mega of building a “tremendous⁤ business” with Chilean soap operas, suggesting they have violated intellectual ⁣property laws ‌by⁤ failing ‍to pay fees.

ChileActores also ⁣shared‌ a ‌statement on Instagram, confirming the lawsuit and emphasizing ‍their responsibility to enforce payment rights.
