Santiago, December 29, 2025 – Footballer Erick Pulgar was crowned Chile’s “best of the best” athlete for 2025, a testament to his Copa Libertadores championship with Flamengo, despite not being a consistent starter for the Chilean national team.

The Circle of Sports Journalists of Chile hosted its annual awards gala this Monday, recognizing outstanding achievements across all disciplines. Ignacio Torres, a tennis player, earned the title of “Best of the Best” in the Paralympic category.
Did you know? Luis Diaz Cid was named the National Prize for Sports Journalism, following in the footsteps of esteemed colleagues like Cristian Arcos, Julio Salviat, and Vladimiro Mimica.
In football, Mary Valencia, forward for Colo Colo, was also recognized alongside Pulgar. Esteban González, who led Coquimbo Unido to a championship, received the award for best coach across all sports.
